It was one of those days in Bengaluru when I had driven to office on my scooter. One trend that I have been experiencing and noticing personally is that the usage of my smartphone for telephone purposes has reduced to almost nil. This is primarily due to 2 factors The usage of video based apps for calling friends and family. Video apps are much more convenient especially with wi-fi as you can see and talk to the person on the other side When not using video, the usage of my landline for telephone purposes due to increasing call drop-outs in my smartphones.

An often repeated term at job is the need to have “self motivation”. However another term that is often heard is “frustration”. Why is there a great feeling of frustration when the expectation is to be self motivated ? What are the factors that contribute to success in self-motivation and reducing the element of frustration ? There could be many factors if one considers a daily average day of a person.

In the context of team/project management, I would define an asset as someone who brings a certain value and when properly nurtured can bring in more value and returns to the team in line with the team and organization’s objectives. Similarly a resource would be someone who also brings certain value but is usually utilized rather than nurtured and thereby starts losing value over a period of time. From what I have experienced, to get high performing teams you need to treat them as assets rather than as plain resources.

In a fast changing and adapting world, technology and solutions are no exception. New challenges are presented in terms of new problem statements which require different solutions that are modern in design, presentation and the speed of delivery – something which is possible but not exactly easy as it sounds! Communication, specifically Internet and telecommunication advancements are the ones that truly make the current world, modern! These technologies have enabled people and nations across the world to come closer, trade and ideas to flourish and enabled access of information about anything in almost real time!

The IPL fixing scam has shown how people, irrespective of their status or position of power, are easy prey to “Greed”, one of the sevens sins as per the Christian belief. The series of scams in India over the last few years have shown that we have been completely swallowed by this sin and continue to do so. This desire for easy money and power is not just restricted to the rich and powerful.

ഒരു ജന്മത്തിന്റെ കാത്തിരിപ്പിലാണ് അവള്‍. ഓരോ നിമിഷവും, ആകാംഷയുടെ താഴ്വാരത്തിൽ, സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെ തണലില്‍ നില്‍കുകയാണ്‌ അവള്‍. പക്ഷെ ആ നിമിഷം ഇനിയും വന്നില്ല്യാ!! സങ്കടത്തിന്റെ ഭാരവുമായി അവള്‍ തിരിച്ചു വന്നു. വരുന്ന വഴിയില്‍ അവളുടെ കണ്ണുകളില്‍ ഒരു കണ്ണുനീര്‍ തുളി പുറത്തിറങ്ങാന്‍ കാത്തു നില്കുകയായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷെ ആ നീർതുളിക്കും അതിന്റെ സമയം വന്നില്ല്യാ!! സങ്കടങ്ങള്‍ പക്ഷികള്‍ ആയിരുന്നെങ്കില്‍ അവയെ പറക്കാന്‍ വിടാമായിരുന്നു. കാത്തിരിപ്പു തീരും വരെ അവ നമ്മുടെ കൂട സഞ്ചാരികൾ ആവുന്നു.സ്നേഹിക്കാന്‍ കൂടെ ഞാനും. ഈ നിമിഷം, ഈ സമയം, എല്ലാം മറന്നു ഉറങ്ങി കിടക്കുകയാണ് അവള്‍. നാളെ ഒരു പുധിയ സൂര്യോദയം, ഒരു പുധിയ കാത്തിരിപ്പിന്റെ തുടക്കം !
